Happy little elephant – haiku

Not belonging anywhere, not fitting in,

Yet free and happy, just like a little yellow elephant,

Floating through the colorful sky…

I painted this piece while volunteering at Dream Community, Taiwan – lovely and unique art center. This little happy elephant kind of just jumped through me onto a medium sized piece of wood, I have no idea why it is yellow and why it is floating in strange geometric shapes! Initially, I was going to paint something elephant – related for an India – themed mural, but this one just had its own idea what it wanted to be!

Later came this haiku-like poetic annotation about “fitting in” just as well as a yellow elephant would (my own old theme… and not only mine). How do you fit in if you are a “yellow elephant”? And why at all we have this strange need to find other “yellow elephants”, or pretend to be a grey one?
